How To Drive Traffic to Your Blog

You spend all night setting up your very own blog, but in short time you realize nobody is coming to read it. Furthermore now that you have a blog what do you do next? It took me a long time to learn how to get free traffic to my blogs. There are various methods that can be used to get traffic to
a blog some of which are explained below.

Post regularly:

This is a step most people often ignore. We all know our readers are not fool, you can’t just expect them to be coming to your website or blog everyday without them finding new fresh content to read. Try to update your blog regularly

Blog commenting:

Commenting on other blogs in your niche is also another good strategy to increase the number of visits to your blog. It is important to have an avatar when commenting, the avatar can either be your image or another image related to your blog. The importance of using an avatar is that it makes you look real and human and if you comment on many blogs so many users who read several of those blogs will be forced to visit your blog because they are now becoming familiar with your avatar due to them seeing it  every where.

Community
Whether you start up your own community, or join others, via means of MyBlogLog, MySpace, LinkedIn, twitter, facebook ,  Xing and others, this is a guaranteed and proven way to get visitors, to get hits, impressions, and often quality traffic, because you know that these people haven’t just clicked on a random link or search engine listing, but have seen you or your website’s profile, and followed it through to your homepage/landing page

Maximize your use of RSS.
Your blog will come with built in RSS capabilities, and you should make sure to be taking advantage of these. The easier it is for people to subscribe to your blog, the easier it will be for you to get blog traffic when you need it. Some of the most widely recognized feed sites are:
- Feedage.com
- Feedagg.com
- Feedraider.com
- Feedfury.com
- Feedsubmitter.com
- Feedest.com
- Search4rss.com

Don't Forget Images
Images don't just make your blog look pretty, they also help people find you in search engine listings. People often use the image search options offered by Google, Yahoo! and other search engines, and naming your images with search engine optimization in mind can easily boost your traffic.
Build links from other websites
Search engine spiders use links to navigate the web and index the websites that they find. What this means is, the easier that you make it for the search engines to find you, the easier it will be for you to get blog traffic through search engine results pages. It really is this simple.
Try article marketing
Article marketing is a powerful way to attract traffic. Post your articles atEzineArticles.com and include a link to your blog in your author resource box. Also set up your author account to automatically send a tweet when you post new articles. That drives traffic to your article which drives traffic back to your blog.

Get listed
Get your registered with the blog directories like Topblogarea , Bloggeries etc. There are countless more directories at your disposal, which are always just a Google, Yahoo, Live or Ask.com search away. Do not underestimate the power of directory submission and also try to do it gradually i.e. do not submit to 1000 directories in one day, submit your website to some few directories and continue like that.
Make a Google profile
You can’t ignore Google. Set up your profile on Google and include links to your blogs and websites. Whenever someone does a search on your name, a link to your profile will be featured at the bottom of the first page of search results. You can include pictures, links to your blog(s), products, website, and social networks.

Showcase posts :

Make use of the widgets like related posts, recent posts ,labels etc. They help readers to read more of your site’s content that may be helpful for what they are in search for.
Stand out in the crowd
Differentiate yourself, do something different. Be daring, be random! Try something wild, or something completely unheard of, whether it’s outrageous, or greatly beneficial to the reader. Sometimes, even beneficial to the writer! Be the first to talk about the upedates or happenings in your niche. What is success without a lil’ bit o’risk????
